After Apple went a year in 2023 without a single iPad hardware update, there are high expectations for the upcoming update. New generations of iPad Pro and iPad Air are expected this spring. 91mobiles today published the schematics for the new iPad Air , which will have a larger 12.9-inch display, which is larger than the current 10.9-inch model. The larger screen of the iPad Air matches the screen size of the largest display of the iPad Pro. Bringing the 12.9-inch screen size to the mid-range iPad seems to be the product distribution strategy Apple has recently implemented with the iPhone, where the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 Plus models introduced the largest iPhone screen size at more affordable prices.
The company Fax Lists also launched a 15-inch MacBook Air for the first time last year. While the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro starts at $1,099, the iPad Air starts at $599. However, Apple is likely to sell both the 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Air at the same time, so the price of the 12.9-inch iPad Air will be slightly higher than $599. As shown in the leaked schematics, the new iPad Air will not change the industrial design except for the larger display. However, it looks like the rear camera layout has been redesigned and both the camera and the flash are now housed in a prominent rectangular module. This somewhat resembles iPhone camera designs from a few years back, the iPhone X/XS era. You can see all the photos of the possible design on the 91mobiles website .
Although the timing is not known, it seems that the iPad Air will be introduced in the first half of this year. The new iPad Pro series with OLED displays is also expected to go on sale by June. Spec-bump updates are expected to hit the iPad mini and the base iPad model before the end of the year.
